It’s doubtful that any longtime “Lost” fans wanted or expected every single twist explained or question answered when the series finale aired Sunday night. Often the best stories end with an air of ambiguity. But there’s the intrigue that comes with lingering mystery and then there’s what “Lost” actually left behind, which was more like a host of riddles without resolution.

Were they all really dead?
They all died eventually, but there time on the island was real. Some died on the island and others were saved and died later on.
Why couldn't most women conceive on the island?
Why didn't they recognize each other in the sideways? it seems that was the zinger that made the ending so nasty- it made you think that they actually had a real life without the intrusion of Jacob.
What happened to Mr. Eko was the same as what happened to the rest of the Losties. When he died, he was reunited with the person most important to him: his brother. We even saw this at the end of the episode in which he died. As to why Smokey killed him, I think it was because he couldn't be manipulated and therefore was not useful.
Did the characters die in the crash or did they actually survive and experience everything in the series? The closing credits of the show seem to indicate the plane crashed and no one survived - no activity, just the remains of the plane are seen. If that is the case, all of the "unanswered questions" - numbers, the Others, Walt, fertility, etc, are moot.
I'm still LOST! If they all died in the plane crash, and the people on the island were just something to fill the void, how come Jack's father and Juliet were at the church, becase they weren't on the plan?
Perhaps all the characters were in this place as a result of death by other means than the plane crash.
They died in the first plane crash and everything that happened there after was designed to give them a chance to reconcile thier troubled lives allowing a peaceful transference into the afterlife. Think about all the reflection of the characters lives throughout the series. No one would be considered average. They overcame disease and affliction once on the island only to face extreme adversity pushing all to make life in death choices between ones self or the well being of fellow survivors.
It was just for fun, people! The writers do not know or remember even what it was. Get real!
I think some are over looking the obvious answers that we were given with the explaination that they had all died...
1) Women could not give birth on the island, but they could conceive. They could not give birth becuase, presumabley, the child they were carrying did not die along with the mother. Jin and Sun were able to conceive on the island because they were both dead. Claire was able to give birth on the island becuase Aarron also died in the plane crash.
2) John Locked died on impact, therefore, what was left of him on the island no longer needed the wheel chair to get around.
3) Rose also died on impact, therefore, leaving her cancer free.
4) Ben was not dead at the time of his diagnosis, therefore, he needed the treatment/surgery provided by Jack, who, by the way, must have still been alive at that point in time.
I also agree with james...It was just for fun, people! The writers do not know or remember even what it was. Get real!
Namaste
not as obvious as you think..the statue was tawaret, not anubis
Also, I'm not sure why so many here think they died in the initial crash. Nothing about the sideways world seems to indicate that.
What about he statue who built it? Why only four toes? And how did the Black Rock get on the island? What happened to it's people? Why did Widmore want the Black Rock's log book and what did he learn from it? And why Tunisia? Who built the well and how did the wheel get there? Why was it there? What was it attached to that caused the island to move or people to jump through and off the island? Lots of questions yet to be answered people. Maybe we should be pushing for a feature film?
Wally....really??? Ok - so I may not be the foremost expert on Lost, but really, these are your questions??? Did you watch Lost??? EVER???
The statue: Anubis (Ancient Greek: Ἄνουβις) is the Greek name for a jackal-headed god associated with mummification and the afterlife in Egyptian mythology. ... It only has 4 toes becuase that how many toes Anubis should have
In Ab Aeterno we saw the Black Rock (Richard's slave ship) crash onto the island during a storm. The Captian and 3 crew mates survived the crash, killed all of the slaves except for Richard, then were killed by Smokie.
Widmore wanted the Captain's log of the Black Rock to find the island and obviously, it worked becuase he returned.
Tunisia - no idea other than the writers tipping their cap to Stephen King...read the first lines of the Dark Tower series...
The well was built by MIB and his people as we saw in Across the Sea. The wheel was there, but not yet in place. The wheel was the mechanism that was used to direct the water and light in order to affect the EM fields on the island, again, as we saw in Across the Sea.
NO MOVIE - NEVER A MOVIE!!! Having all of the answers would certainly ruin the spirit of the show.
Thank you very much
